Refund policy

Custom work on your own parts

Everything we do is custom work on parts you send us, done to the finish you approve before we start. Once the work has begun it cannot be undone, so finishing work is not returnable and we do not give refunds on it.

What we do stand behind is the finish. If the work doesn't come out the way we agreed, tell us and we'll make it right — normally by redoing the finish on the pieces affected. Get in touch within 10 days of your parts arriving back with you, and before anything is installed or put back together — once a part has been installed or reassembled there is no way to tell when a mark happened. Reach us through our quote page. Photographs help, and they travel by email: our reply comes from a real inbox, so send your pictures back on that reply and they reach us. (The form itself can't carry a file.) If the fault is ours, the shipping both ways for a redo is on us.

Deposits

A deposit starts a job: $65 for a matte finish, $100 for a gloss finish. It covers materials and the prep work that begins as soon as your parts reach the shop, and it holds your place in line. Change your mind before we have started and we will return it — just tell us. Once prep has begun the deposit is spent, and from that point it cannot be returned. And if we are the ones who turn the job down, you get it back in full.

What a redo doesn't cover

  • A change of mind about the color, the pattern or the design after you have approved it.
  • The ordinary variation that comes with anodizing. The color comes from dye soaking into the metal itself, so the alloy, the part's maker and its machining all move the result. Two parts from different makers can take the same color differently, and colors on a screen or in a photograph are a close preview rather than a guarantee. No shop can honestly promise a 100% color match; we strive for a perfect one every time.
  • Wear, marks or damage your part already had. Stripping an old finish brings back dings and scratches that were hidden underneath it.
  • A part that has been refinished several times before. Taking an old anodized layer off takes a little of the aluminum with it, and that does not come back, so a much-refinished part can come back fitting slightly differently even when every step was done right.
  • Normal wear and tear, or anything that happens to the part after it leaves us.
  • Loss or damage in the post. That is covered in our shipping policy.

If we damage a part here

We tell you straight away, before you hear it from anywhere else, and we tell you what we propose to do about it. What we can be responsible for is set out in our terms.

Anything else you buy from the shop

Unused, unopened items that are not custom work can be returned within 30 days of arriving with you. Get in touch through our quote page first. Return postage is yours unless the item was wrong or faulty, and once it is back with us the refund goes to the card or account you paid with. Custom-finished parts, and the deposit, cannot be returned.

How to raise something

Use our quote page. Tell us your name, the email address you used for the job, and what is wrong. We come back to you by email, and you can send photographs by replying to that email — that is the way pictures reach us, and the reply is where the job is talked about from then on.
